Veaceslav Ciornîi

Veaceslav Ciornîi

President of the Climate Smart Agriculture Community of Practice. Pioneer of conservative agriculture. He has been practicing conservation farming since 2008. He grows a variety of crops including winter wheat, rye, corn, sunflowers, canola, peas and soybeans. In the last four years he has framed cover crop mixtures in rotation. His vision of conservation agriculture includes not only increasing economic efficiency, but also preserving the soil for future generations.

Vasile Dânga

Together with his brother Andrei, he manages a household in Ștefan Vodă, adopted conservative agriculture in response to the drought of 2020. Currently, he practices various crops, including winter wheat, corn, sunflower, rape and peas. Vasile Dânga sees the perspective of agricultural development in adapting to climate change by practicing conservative/regenerative agriculture and biologicalization.

Corneliu Morei  

Corneliu Morei  

Farmer from Soroca district, very active member of the Community of Practices in AIC. Practices Conservative Agriculture since 2019. Grows corn, sunflowers, winter wheat and soybeans. He plans to introduce fall peas and cover crops on areas previously planted with fall crops. Its main objectives in implementing conservation agriculture include improving soil health and achieving economic efficiency in crop production. 

Tigai Ion  

Tigai Ion  

Young farmer from the Ștefan Vodă district who, after the drought of 2020, is implementing conservative agriculture step by step. Grow winter wheat, sunflowers, grain corn, winter canola and winter barley. Plans to introduce flax and sorghum. In the climatic conditions specific to his area, Tigai believes that no-till is the only solution for survival in the context of climate change. It argues that each field requires an individual approach to successfully implement conservation agriculture.

Railean Andrei

Railean Andrei

Young farmer from Stefan Vodă district, Semionovca village. He adopted the principles of conservative agriculture starting in 2017, initially on half the surface of the household, expanding them entirely in 2018. He grows corn, sunflowers, winter wheat, rapeseed, peas and soybeans. All crops are grown at a distance of 50 cm between rows. Switching to liquid fertilizers and optimizing plant nutrition are among the future actions. It survives in severe drought conditions only thanks to conservative agriculture, notes Andrei Railean.

Gheorghe Panfil

Gheorghe Panfil

Farmer from Dondușeni district. A pioneer of conservative agriculture, since 2004, he initially adopted the mini till technique, later evolving to no till during 2010-2011. As for intercropping sugar beet, he practices both mini till and no till simultaneously. He grows corn, canola, sugar beets, sunflowers, winter wheat, soybeans, green peas and beans. Grow cover crops. Plan to grow mixtures of leguminous crops to increase the amount of nitrogen fixed from the air. By adopting conservative technologies, the farmer shows that he manages to survive in the conditions of climate change.

Dumitru Gaidău

Dumitru Gaidău

Together with his son Mihail, he manages the household in the Râșcani district, practicing conservative agriculture starting in 2021. He grows various plants, including winter wheat, corn, sunflower, mustard, flax, rapeseed, soy, peas and alfalfa. Intersperse leguminous crops with non-leguminous ones to ensure crops with atmospheric nitrogen. Everything is possible to achieve, it is important to recognize your own errors and move forward, believes Mr. Gaidău.

Vitalie Ciobanu

Vitalie Ciobanu, a farmer from the Cimișlia district, adopted conservative agriculture in 2020 as a response to that year's drought. They currently grow a variety of crops, including winter wheat, corn, sunflowers and canola. Plan to introduce cover crops. He argues that, in the context of droughts in past years, agricultural enterprises that do not adopt practices such as no-till risk facing bankruptcy.

Bodarev Dumitru 

Bodarev Dumitru 

Young farmer from the Ceadâr Lunga district, who implemented conservative agriculture on the entire cultivated area gradually, during the years 2019 - 2022. He grows corn, sunflower, winter wheat, flax, peas, alfalfa, barley. It plans to introduce cover crops in the coming years. He states that the key to success in conservation farming lies in the desire and understanding of the system, and the rest becomes possible. 

Dincov Emanuil

Dincov Emanuil

Former agronomist in the collective household in his hometown, Cedâr-Lunga district. He has been active in agriculture since 1977. In 2011, he decided to establish his own household. Since 2020, it has adopted the principles of conservation agriculture on the entire cultivated area. He grows corn, sunflowers, winter barley, winter wheat, flax and canola. From 2022, the cultivation of cover crops will begin. Speaking about what has been achieved in recent years, the farmer emphasizes the importance of reducing the amount of diesel used by more than 50%.

Belotaci Valeriu

Belotaci Valeriu

Farmer with a lifetime of experience dedicated to agriculture in the Ștefan Vodă district. It evaluates different technologies and after the drought of 2020 switches to conservative agriculture. Grow winter wheat, sunflower, grain corn, fall rape, millet and other less common ones. It plans to introduce cover crops on an area greater than 800 ha. Promotion and implementation must be continued, so that every farmer understands and makes the changes in his household, D. Belotaci considered.

Zmeu Ştefan

Zmeu Ştefan

Young farmer from the Anenii Noi district, who regrets not having studied agronomy at university but loves agriculture immensely. From the fall of 2020, it implements conservative agriculture. He grows sunflowers, corn, winter wheat, winter barley, rape and peas. The farmer plans to expand the area dedicated to growing peas and cover crops. He believes that this is the direction of the future and expresses regret that only a limited number of farmers adopt this system. The farmer points out that if we had more practitioners, we could benefit from a richer collective experience.
