More farmers in Moldova are expressing interest in Conservative Agriculture

On November 30, 2023, a significant event took place for large-scale farmers in the Republic of Moldova - the seminar promoting the Community of Practices (CoP) in Climate Smart Agriculture. Organized by the National Farmers Federation, this seminar brought together thought leaders, experts, and farmers interested in innovative approaches in the agricultural field.

The opening of the event was graced by Mr. Valentin Saşco, the extension program coordinator at the Federation. Mr. Saşco emphasized the importance of the addressed themes and expressed confidence that participants would not regret attending this seminar. "It's an extremely relevant topic from all perspectives, and we are honored to have dedicated farmers here eager to learn and contribute to the evolution of agriculture in Moldova," stated the representative of the National Farmers' Federation at the event.

Throughout the seminar, participants raised numerous questions, reflecting the concerns and challenges farmers face in the context of climate-smart agriculture. Topics included the similarity of climatic conditions in other countries practicing Conservative Agriculture to those in Moldova, the time required to stabilize yields, and the restoration of agricultural soils. Participants received comprehensive answers and relevant information tailored to the local context.

In a pivotal moment of the event, the expert and moderator of the CoP in Climate-Smart Agriculture, Mihail Rurac, encouraged farmers to join the Community of Practices. "Through study visits to farms practicing Conservative Agriculture, as well as through online seminars and activities, we can learn from each other and contribute to the sustainability of our agriculture," stated Mihail Rurac.

The seminar concluded successfully with a virtual collaboration plan, where farmers invited the facilitator to provide field consultations. This marks the beginning of a fruitful collaboration that promises to bring significant improvements to the agricultural practices of farmers in Moldova.
